With a choice of crystal, fiber, or gas lasers, we can provide high-speed laser marking for virtually any material, including wood, acrylic, glass, leather, stone, metals, and coated metals. Our laser markers are ideal for applications that require precision and high efficiency and frequently include delicate graphics, very small fonts, barcodes, images or text. Laser marking is often used on automotive or aerospace parts, medical equipment, mobile phones, jewelry, promotional items, and more. With a highly visible and permanent mark, keeping track of products, improving quality, and minimizing potential counterfeiting is easy.
Laser marking provides a noncontact, abrasion-resistant, permanent marking solution that does not damage the material or allow the mark to degrade due to environmental factors. Since laser marking does not require cutting tools or chemicals, it is a cost-effective option to mechanical engraving, pad printing, stamping or chemical etching. Laser marking does not use dyes or inks, making the process clean and affordable.
ABCO further enhances the laser marking process with the integration of robotics. Our robotic laser marking system employs an affordable, high-performance Selective Compliance Articulated Robot Arm (SCARA) and offers optional vision integration and system programming. With an amplifier and motion controller built into the arm, there are no external electronics and negligible number of cables, which means an easy, simple system implementation. A single pedestal mount commands a small footprint, making mounting straightforward. In addition, the robotic arm extends into confined spaces, then retracts or folds up and out of the way, which is ideal for laser marking operations.
Safety guarding and other safety measures come standard with all ABCO laser marking systems, which help users adhere to federal regulations. We provide a thorough documentation package for referencing, troubleshooting, and spare parts ordering. As with all ABCO’s systems, technical support, whether onsite or remote, is available to reduce production issues and downtime. A 12-month warranty is standard on all ABCO systems.
Laser markers start out life as a Class 4 Laser—defined as an eye and skin hazard for both direct and scattered exposure. Our turnkey systems are designed to convert a hazardous Class 4 Laser into a completely safe Class 1 Laser System.
During the product design phase, our engineering team will incorporate Nominal Hazard Zone information in the laser product design, following FDA-CDRH requirements for laser products. All client-provided FDA product reports will be reviewed by our LSO (Laser Safety Officer). The LSO will also review and approve all laser systems prior to shipping the completed project.
FDA product registration is required by federal law. Our LSO will document compliance with safety measures taken to convert a Class 4 Laser into a Class 1 Laser System. Proper documentation includes the LSO Risk Assessment Review, photo documentation, FDA Product Registration Report, and the FDA Annual Product Shipment Report.
