Robots are increasingly being used in bakeries to automate repetitive tasks, improve efficiency, and ensure consistency in the production process. ABCO Automation works with Staubli Robots in many food applications including: 

1. Dough Handling and Mixing

  • Dough Preparation: Robots can mix ingredients and knead dough with high precision, ensuring consistency in texture and quality.
  • Dough Portioning: Robots can divide dough into precise portions for consistent product size, whether for bread, rolls, or pastries.
2. Shaping and Molding
  • Bread Molding: Robotic systems can shape dough into specific forms like baguettes, buns, or loaves.
  • Pastry Shaping: Robots are used to fold, roll, or twist dough into intricate pastry shapes, especially for croissants or danishes.

3. Oven Loading and Unloading

  • Loading Ovens: Robots can automatically load dough or prepared products into ovens, reducing labor-intensive work and ensuring safety in high-temperature environments.
  • Unloading Baked Goods: Once the baking is complete, robots can remove hot products from ovens and place them onto cooling racks or conveyors.

  • Labeling: Robots can apply labels to packaged products, ensuring accuracy and speed.
6. Quality Control and Inspection
  • Vision Systems: Integrated robotic vision systems inspect baked goods for quality, size, shape, and defects. They help in rejecting undercooked or misshaped products.
7. Logistics and Palletizing
  • Sorting and Arranging: Robots are used to sort baked goods and arrange them for distribution.
  • Palletizing: After products are packed, robots stack boxes on pallets for storage or shipping.

The use of robots helps improve hygiene, reduce waste, and enhance production speed while allowing human workers to focus on more complex tasks.
